What connects a New England merry-go-round, thirty pieces of silver, a lover’s murder, and Puerto Rico? They all feature in musicals from which Gig Caritas will be performing songs in the forthcoming spectacular "Best of Broadway". *
A fabulous evening celebrating special moments from some of the greatest musical shows ever to tread the boards. The 80-member In Sound Company community choir, soloists including Louise Maguire, Chris Passey, and Nigel Passey, with accompaniment by the 30-piece Gig Caritas Orchestra, will be performing to create an unforgettable experience in Dudley Town Hall. All under the direction of conductors Keith Horsfall and Judith Moreland.
With the stalls area re-arranged in cabaret-style seating at tables, this promises to be an exceptional concert and an opportunity not to be missed. Be sure to reserve your seats now!
* Julie and Billy begin their ill-fated relationship on a New England merry-go-round in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Carousel; 30 pieces of silver is Judas’ reward as "the greatest story ever" is retold in Jesus Christ Superstar; a lover’s murder is the trigger (excuse the pun) for the misfortunes of Roxie Hart in Chicago; and the Sharks gang are all migrants from Puerto Rico in the Bernstein/Sondheim classic West Side Story. Songs from all of these shows and many more will be performed throughout the concert.
At Gig Caritas we work hard to give you great entertainment, by bringing together a diverse range of local arts and talents to support and build community spirit in the region.
We've done this since 2011 to raise vital funds for local charities and other causes who provide much-needed services but who may not have the resources to fundraise for themselves. Gig Caritas has raised over £60,000 for good causes in the region through a wide range of musical events, covering large-scale orchestral and choral productions, and smaller performances including cabarets.
All our performers give their time for no fee, sufficient in the knowledge that they are helping other people whilst having a good time themselves!
